Phoenix dies in Baltimore

Little Phoenix who had burns on 98% of her body died this morning. She was doused with gasoline and lit on fire in Baltimore.  A good samaritan doused the flames with her sweatshirt and called the police. She was being cared for by a vet clinic in PA after the incident.  Authorities are still offering a reward for the arrest of those involved.  Animal abuse is usually just the beginning. Someone that could set this dog on fire can easily turn their attention to others.  These people have little empathy for suffering and no regard for the value of life.

When I read this blog, the tears welled up in my eyes immediately. I was weeping for this dog, wishing that I could have saved her. I felt deep hatred for whoever did this; I know that whoever did this, they WILL reap what they sew! I'm sure that others feel as strongly as I do and would want to strangle the person who was involved; I do know that God will be able to punish them far better than I or anyone else could.
I have a 6 year old male pitbull that my late husband and I rescued about four years ago. He was a chain dog for his whole life until we were blessed to take him home. He was supposed to be trained to be in fights, though was delayed because his owner had three young kids that took alot of his time. They stopped at cutting his ears THEMSELVES, without the proper medical care. His previous owners did not love him and would beat him with a broom for pretty much no reason.
It took about a full year for us to rehabilitate him, and for all of us to trust eachother. He is the best dog and friend that I have ever known! He loves to lay in my lap while I give him a little massage. He really can't get enough attention, he is such a lover!!
Hopefully I can start a rescue shelter one day, that would be my dream. I pray that I can save dogs like Phoenix one day; I would save every last animal on the whole planet if I could.

Thank you for bringing attention to what happened to Phoenix! I am from the Baltimore area, so we have heard a lot about this case in the news and from neighbors and friends. It is nice to know that news of Phoenix has spread to other parts of the country. The more awareness that is brought about animal cruelty using Phoenix as an example, the less in vain her senseless death will be. The hearts of many in Baltimore are broken for Phoenix. If you are interested, there is a petition asking for justice for Phoenix. The petition website is: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/request-justice-for-phoenix-dog-set-on-fire.
